180 degree rule
it is a guideline / rule that is that two characters in a scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other. If you don't follow the 180 Degree Rule, or break it intentionally, it disrupts the scene disorients the audience. The reason that it shouldn't be broken is that it confuses the audience. It can be broken to be used for an effect.
Eye line refers to the path of the looking eye and is similar to the shot reverse shot. It is based on the audience wanting to view what the character on screen is viewing, the camera starts on the character looking at something the audience cannot see the camera then cuts to the object they are looking at. An example of this is in Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window, the main character is confined to his apartment and often looks out of the rear window and so eye line match’s are frequently used to show the focus of his gaze’s outside.
rhythmic match- : Rhythmic editing is a technique that allows you to control the pace between two shots.
Characteristics: a shot's physical length corresponds to a measurable duration.
match on point is when one shot cuts to another shot and impersonate the other shot that was happening it isn't a graphic match but it is similar
graphic match :is one of the editing techniques and it has its between two different transition. It creates a cut between two different shots
analysing my three poems
poem about life
I've always viewed life from the side lines,
Just watching it passing me by,
In the past too afraid to just let go and live,
And lately too tired to try.
I've envied the people around me,
So invested in living each day,
While I spent my time hiding out from the world,
And searching for ways to escape.
For most of my life, I truly believed,
I was here to help somebody else,
But now it's so clear it was just an excuse.
To avoid living life for myself.
It's sad that our lives and the pain we endure,
Can weaken our strength to move on,
But if we get lost in the scars of our past,
Without knowing our lives will be gone.
It's true people are disappointing,
They can turn in the blink of an eye,
But we can't avoid hurting each other,
When we all want a chance at this life.
But there's something I've learned through the wisdom of age,
A truth about all of our lives,
And that is no matter what path we each take,
In the end, we just want to survive.
So the time has now come to conquer my fears,
And to stand up and face a new day,
Let the hurts of my past wash away with my tears,
And stop letting my life slip away.
This poem is about life experience and about how life has so much uncertainty and you don’t know what could happen. The poet explains that she used to worry about those who surrounded her and how she used to envy them and how now that’s irrelevant and she doesn’t really care about what happens in life and the line where the poet says ‘I watch life from the side lines’ I interpret this the poet doesn’t feel that they are living there life that they are just watching what people do and following that in a way. Stanza 3 develops what she is saying and the poet goes deep in and when the poet says ‘I truly believed I was here to help someone ‘ this sounds like the poet believed this was original purpose their in life and now they don’t know what their purpose really is. Stanza 5 though overrides this as it explains that the poet should stop constantly worry about people and hurting them and should focus on their own life as all the time they are worrying about every little thing precious time is going. The stanza elaborates this particular point the first and last line especially as it says. ‘So the time has now come to conquer my fears’ this is very explanatory its straight to the point as now the poet need to forget everything and focus on just conquering their fears. And the last line of that stanza: ‘And stop letting my life slip away’ shows that they might have let their life slip away before whereas now they won’t anymore.
The poem overall is just about the problems you may experience and the different feelings you can encounter and particular times in life but that you have to get up and go and not let it affect or change who you are.
Poem about dreams
Can you imagine being on the moon,
Or can't you see past the roof in this room?
You must take things beyond what you can see.
You must look past what is handed to you and me.
What is here are the essentials of life.
The bare minimum, which can lead to stress and strife.
But look beyond what seems to make sense.
Go ahead and peek over that real tall fence.
For what you find out there, beyond this place
Might just bring a new-found smile to your face.
For dreams are free, they don't cost a dime.
If you try, you'll like it and it will help pass the time.
See, the limits we have put on ourselves
Are from giving in to peer pressure and putting our dreams on a shelf.
Are you going to accept the status quo?
Or are you going to go where no one else goes?
Our dreams are what drive us and bring out our best.
They're the lights that guide us when we're put to the test.
Go ahead, dream and follow your heart.
You might be surprised and to others look smart.
To dream is true freedom, expressed in our minds.
Let's see where they take us.
Maybe we will end up successful
And heroes of our time.
Most of all, achievement (no matter what shape or size)
Started as a dream in someone's inner eyes.
Remember dreams are free, so jump in … get your start.
Who knows where you'll end up when you follow your heart.
A better place, a better time.
A better world we can find.
The answers all lie deep in our dreams
Locked up in our minds.
This poem is about dreaming and how people look at different things in life the first and second line if the first stanza is an extended rhetorical question and it shows what two different types of people could see things the first point would be what a big dreamer would see and the other one is what a doubter and someone who doesn’t think they could do anything big in life and the poet is trying to show the contrast here as the poet uses juxtaposition here and this is simply to highlight the two ideas. The poet then goes on to say explains that you shouldn’t limit and you should think beyond what you can see as there is more to life that what is in front of you. ‘Go ahead and peek over that real tall fence’ this last line in the second stanza in a nutshell means that you should look beyond your limits it’s a metaphor and it just means that you shouldn’t be scared to take risks. ‘For dreams are free, they don't cost a dime.’ Is another reference that you should dream as the poet is explaining that it doesn’t cost anything to dream its free and people mostly love free things that’s why the poet made reference to this. Stanza four and five goes in depth with the benefits of dreaming one of them which was mentioned was that you feel like you want to do better and in a way that means that you want to automatically do better as you feel that you have a purpose and that but if you don’t dream you could give into peer pressure and it briefly mentions peer pressure. The second to last stanza explains that most of our achievements started with a dream and it makes you think and it in fact is true and the in the last stanza the repetition of the word 'better' again emphases the importance to dream.
Poem about friendship
We met when we were young,
friends ever since,
always there for me,
always there for you,
Sister I never had,
Yeah that's you.
Times when we couldn't stop laughing,
when we laugh about the funniest things,
when we laugh about the stupidest things,
both here in times of laughter,
sister I never Had,
Yeah that's you.
Times of when we couldn't stop crying,
sometimes about the saddest things,
sometimes about the funniest things,
both here for each other with an open shoulder to cry on.
Sister I never had,
Yeah that's you.
Times of when we stay up all hours of the night talking,
talking about what ever is on our minds,
I talk,
You talk,
I listen,
You listen,
you care
Sister I never had,
Yeah that's you.
We are here for each other at all times,
Times of sadness,
Times of madness,
Times of hardness
Times of joy.
We have always been there for each other,
always,
We will be there for each other,
always,
Sister I never had,
Yeah that's you!!
This poem is about friendship and it is about how strong some friendships can be. The first line is about how the two poem in the this poem have been friends from a young age and this is short straight to the point sentence this could be to make it stand out that they have been friends since young. In the 3rd and 4th line there is a repletion of always and this repetition could be to demonstrate and outline that it isn’t just sometimes that the person is there for them it is always and that how friendship is meant to be. From00 line 7-10 talks about how they shared laughter and it is said in about four different ways it starts of explaining that they laughed a lot together. Then line 8 and 9 explains that they laugh about the weirdest and that it didn’t as it was that kind of friendship. Sister that I never had is something that is repeated many times during the course of this poem and it is showing that as sisters stereotypical tend to be very close and that’s how there friendship is and this is to elaborate on how much they value it. The next focus goes on about what they talk about its starts of basically saying that they spent a lot of time at night staying up and talking about whatever comes to their minds and this also shows how easy going their friendship must be as they don’t have to plan what they say they just say whatever comes to mind. Just before this it also mentioned that the friend was there even when they were upset showing that friends are not just there for the good times they are also there for the hard and sad times. The majority of the rest of the poem just makes the point that a friend is always there in all times and that they are special and you can only have this bond with a really good friend and its special and should be something that is treasured
My justification
I am going to do the poem which is about dreams there are many reasons I chose this one of the reasons being its very personal and I think it will be easier to do and I could do it more effectively the other poems were okay like the one about life experience was good enough but it wasn’t as good as the one I have picked the about life experience is similar to the one I am doing like in life you dream and stuff I have thought about what I was going to do I have a good idea as I am going to film like different shots and I am also going to do movement as that shows dreams I will do some shots that are high up like in the clouds as people associate clouds with dreams.
The first one poem that I picked I thought it was good but I don’t think that it was the best of the three it was about what you go through in life and how things can change you. But I didn’t think that it was as good to be in a video than the other one I picked. I did the emotion in the video as if I did do this one I could use editing techniques using colour to portray the feelings. I would have also shown like a journey and that but I thought that the idea was just a little bit better
The other poem which is about was about friends was a very good poem but I wondered if it would be a good on to use in the video and after analysing the idea I realised that it might not be the best one to do but it is still a good one though but the other idea about dreams just seemed more suitable and better to do as I could use more shots than I could use for the friendship and the one with dreams I could use more imagination. I could also use more personal experience and I’m a big dreamer so it would be easier for me to do this and also I could show more of my creative side. I could show case more ability as well which is an advantage to me. The one about dreams I could change the tone of my voice because there is loads of chances to do it like with the rhetorical question I could do it in a way that people actual maybe think about it. I also have a good idea I want to include in the video as the poem just makes me instantly picture it.
Original plan
-
To start with clouds
-
To show two sides like the poem does
-
To show a journey
-
To show lightness and darkness
-
To show people smiling and laughing
-
To show someone crying and looking down
-
To show someone looking up to the sky
-
To show some who’s had some success
-
To show a literal bumpy path
Proposal /plan
I plan to do a scene starting with the camera pointing up at the clouds as many people associate dreams with clouds ( living on cloud nine)and then I would to capture like people walking as people are walking towards their dream I want there to be someone that is like looking down and not looking upset and then some who is looking happy and excited with life. I also want someone who is physically looking down and someone physically looking down to show the contrast as when I saw in the poem it says I want it to show someone who isn’t looking towards dreams and someone who nis looking towards a dream ‘or dreams are free, they don't cost a dime. If you try, you'll like it and it will help pass the time. See, the limits we have put on ourselves. Are from giving in to peer pressure and putting our dreams on a shelf’. I also want to edit so there is like words appearing on the screen one particular sections to highlight some of the emotions demonstrated throughout the short video. As some elements of the video are positive and some parts are negative as with the poem there are some good encouraging buts and then there are the bits which sound quite depressing.
Of course i am going to have the voice over as well on top of that i am going to have the different colours to show different feeling like brighter colours for when people are happier and motivated and darker colours for when people are sad and gloomy.
Target audience
For this short video it is for anyone feeling done it doesn’t really have a specific age group as no one is too young or too old to dream so it can be for everyone it might be more directed at teenagers as sometimes around that age you start to doubt yourself as you go through so much around that time so it might be a video which in a way is more appropriate for that age group and but it can also be for younger kids as you should follow your dreams from young as that is the best way you don’t have to wait until you have hit a teen.
But it could also affect adults as like i mentioned before anyone can dream and some of the quotes i got in secondary research were from adults.

some quotes
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit together at the table of brotherhood.- Martin Luther King
A dream is a succession of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations that usually occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep
scientific
Some theories suggest that dreams help your brain process the information it pulled in during the course of your day while helping you retain other memories. Others believe that dreams have symbolic meanings and can be used to predict future events. Still other scientists see dreams and nightmares as random unrelated, meaningless information and as a way for the brain to release the stresses of the day or help you adapt with events in your life.
this explains that what a scientist believes a dream is. It shows different theories and what different people believe dreams are.
“There's no single, definitive meaning for symbols and images in dreams,” Bergmann notes. “But just as a smile usually means that someone is happy, these dream images are so common, that they do have a generally accepted meaning.” This is one of the most commonly reported dreams.
This quotes are all based on the idea of dreams.
This a newspaper article about sleep and how it dreams are linked to sleep. It said that you never sleep like a log you always move around. The reason that this is linked to dreams is because most dreams occur in sleep and this might be the reason that we move and talk in our sleep
The other quotes i found were from either famous scientist or from general people i just found that on the internet
This research I found also is based on statistics.
evaluation of primary research
I found out that ten people that completed my survey have dreamed before and many said that they dream a lot.
Some people could recall some of their recent dreams and some of the dreams mentioned were very creative and funny.
Another question I asked was what did people think the meanings behind dreams were some said they were signs and stuff like that totally argee with this.
There is also question about dream jobs and many people answered them with a variety or things.
and everyone had a dream job which was part of the some of the poem as it talks getting your goals and this is all about goals.
the question that was 50 / 50 was whether they dream more than once a week.
Some believe that dreams is about science and it is a chemical thing ion your body.
Apparently a lot of people remember their dreams

Risk assessment
I had a look at the risk assessments and there wasn’t many risks for example falling objects like the camera and the tripod and also like the risk of slipping. There wasn’t many risks doing this production as there wasn’t stunts or anything like that.
summary of research
To get my final poem
i firstly browsed the internet for poems like i had a looked at poems which had themes like love life death happiness sadness.
I found 3 poems and i thought they were good my other ones are about life and friendship and i thought out of all the others i saw the were a really good. Then i searched one about dreams and after having a look I found one that i liked the look of but then i couldn't use it due to the shortage of words as i needed 180 but it was 160 then i kept looking and found another and that one was i used i read through it and i liked the message of the poem and i also liked the fact it had over required amount of words and this was 180 and this poem is over 200 words. After that for secondary research i researched information about anything related to dreams so if found a news article which was related to sleep and most scientist believe sleep is related to dreams. Also the majority of the time when you dream you are in your sleep.

Evaluation
Filming the video
I think the video was really good overall I managed to capture its essence(meaning) behind the poem as for this particular poem the topic was dreams not the physical type dreams you have in your sleep but the ones you think about in your mind or what you aspire to be for example ‘ I want to be a doctor’ there is an example of a goal. This video tells a story about two different characters and how they all feel towards dreams. I show a person who is very fired up about dreams and then there is a person who isn’t really bothered about dreams and they think dreams are pointless and worthless. The poem shows what dreams help you to become and how they make you feel and portrayed this in the poem showing a really happy person who has just achieved their dream and this is like a story as it shows scenes of where the person is thinking about it and it shows their journey and how they managed to achieve showing that it isn’t always easy but it does work in the end. However to improve I think I could have a added more emotion and also looked in more depth in terms of the actual research about the essence and importance of dreams.
Overall my opinion was that it was a success in a way as I met basically everything I wanted in the proposal and that was the main thing I believed.
i encounter some new skills during this project and also encountered a few problems for example when i filmed one bit it didn't go on the sd card so i didn't get everything that i wanted a first and had to reshoot due to this.
Also i had to make sure people could understand the topic so i re did some of the video due to the fact it wasn't as good or meaningful as much as i wanted it to be.
