An apprenticeship is essentially a job where you get paid while you learn that you can get in many different areas, there are 4 basic types of apprenticeships the first being;

Intermediate where you study for up to 5 GCSE’S, Advanced where you study for the equivalent of 2 A-Levels Higher, which is like taking a level 4 NVQ, Higher National Diploma or Foundation Degree                                      Degree which would be like taking a Bachelor or Master’s degree.

It can take anywhere from 1 – 4 years to be trained as an apprentice.

If you are aged under 18 you will be paid £3.40 an hour.

If you are over 19 you will get paid on the national minimum wage of £5.55, which rises again at ages 21.

The best pay is for degree apprenticeships which start at £25,000.

You must also be given at least 20 days of paid holiday per year.

One of the main opportunities is that compared to other types of learning such as A-Levels up to degrees is that you can get paid while you learn.

It is an excellent start to a professional career without having to pay, you gain practical and relevant training experience that is also relevant to the area you want to work in in the future.

It will also help you with contacts especially in industries like the media when it is based on who you know rather than what you know.

Internship

Is a period of work experience were you work for a company to gain knowledge. You get a qualification out of it it is like an apprenctship however with an apprenticeship you get paid whereas an internship they only pay for your travel or food and sometimes they don’t even pay for that

Advantages are that you get a qualification out of it and you can also sometimes get a proper full time job with the company you work for and also you can get links like with other people

Disadvantages are that you don’t get paid and sometimes are not offered a job you can be taken advantage of in terms of they might make you do jobs which aren’t in your job role just because your ‘below’ someone

The opportunities

You can put it on your cv

You get experience in the working life

You are learning so you can build your knowledge on the pathway you want to go on

University

it is extended education which isn't compulsory where if you succeed you come out with a degree which you can add to you cv you can get from a first class to a normal pass. you can study from 3 to about 7 years. you can do a masters which optional to your course as its an extended bit of your degree.

the advantages

is that you study in depth about the course so you in a way know about the course more than someone who didn't study it in university

you get a qualification

people with qualification get paid more

you learn how to live alone

disadvantages

you don't get enough work experience

you have a large debt to pay

if you chose the wrong course and change it then you have alot more debts as you still have to pay for the other course

employement

it is a contract where you work a certain amount works under strict conditions. some organistations require you to go on training before starting employment

sometimes you have contracted hours or sometime you have what is called a zero hour contact where they call you when they need.

The national minimum   wage is £4 for a 16 -17 year old some firms pay more than the national wage but they are not allowed to pay below the minimum  wage. the minimum wage for an 18 year old  to 20 year old is £5.30. for 21 and over is£7.38

Strengths - I am a creative person which helps with the job I want to go into as you have to come with ideas in terms of what you are going to do in the music video and what the theme will be I also have to think of the costume design and what different colours are going to be included. I also need to think of what message am trying to show. I am good with interacting  with different types of people and on the job you have to as you work as part of a team with the costume design and the makeup people and you have to work with the lighting people and they are all very essential as they all make up the music video. I like learning different things and keeping up what is current and this is very important especially with media as different software are being upgraded and there is a lot of completion out there so you have to keep up and have the best and relevant software. I'm confident person so I'm  not scared to talk to people and I can come with ideas and express them to people.

Weakness-  never satisfied with my work which can be good in some cases but I never feel confident with the work  and feel like all the time there is room for improvement in everything.i also need to focus a little more as sometimes i can get easily distracted and this makes my work a little less presentable. Also i can be a little disorganised so this could be a problem as in this job you need to be orginsed and be a tidy person and i can be seen as a little messy so my equipment might be messy and might take me longer to find things.

opputunites- i am at college ad there is good equipment0 and average teaching so i will pick some information and skills and i have to complete 100 hours of work experience so i can pick up skill and working

threats- i am still young and some might think that am inexperienced as i am only at college and i am not perfect at it and not too much experience as well might be another in terms didn't really study media before college
